Born to Fly!
Have you ever felt like you just can’t get off the ground? Maybe you are depressed. Maybe you are struggling in an uncertain economy. Or maybe you have a dream and a desire which God has placed within you that you just cannot seem to get going. In times like that, you can feel helpless and afraid. You flap our wings and yet all you do is move in circles. It makes me think of our newest family member, our sweet cockateil, Sunshine. Since Sunshine’s wings are clipped, he cannot really fly, but he doesn’t know that. Every time he sees me or my husband and especially when he smells peanut butter, he will go crazy, flap his wings, fall off his perch and land on the ground. Every time, he looks stunned and cannot believe that he was not able to get to his intended target. If only he knew that he just doesn’t have the physical ability to fly, he could be spared the pain and disappointment. But I am sure that in his little bird heart, he knows he was born to fly. His Maker made him to spread his wings and soar through the air, but circumstances in the world are keeping him from doing what he was born to do. Can you relate?
Are there circumstances in your world right now which are keeping you from doing what you were born to do? Are there fears in your heart, lies in your head and road blocks and barriers along the way? Have you spread your wings and jumped only to find that your wings have been clipped? Have you faced shame and disgrace along the road to your dream? You are not alone. Those who long to get off the ground often fall while learning to fly, but God wants you to fly. He created you for purposes only you can accomplish. He is the repairer of clipped wings. He places dreams into the hearts of man for the purposes of bringing Him glory. If you ask Him, He will be the wind beneath your wings, taking you to heights you never imagined, causing you to soar like an eagle and bringing to pass His destiny for you.
I love the words of the Prophet Isaiah when he wrote, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31.
So today, as you seek to come out of depression, overcome the economic times or reach your dreams, remember that in your own strength it is impossible, but through Christ, nothing is impossible. Trust Him to uphold you in His right hand. Trust Him to be your strength, so that you will soar like an eagle!!
Trust Him today. Your destiny is waiting!!
