I must admit something. I have not always honored the office of the Presidency of the United States, or I guess I should say, I haven’t always honored the person holding the title of President. You see, I have great esteem for the leaders of our land. One reason for that is because I love this country and all she represents, the other reason is because we are instructed in the Word of God to do so.
When Former Pres. Clinton took office, I was one of the unhappy ones. I …

I don’t think any of us will ever forget that awful day when planes dominated our attention, lives were lost, buildings were destroyed and the skies were silenced overhead. Fear welled up in each of us as we pondered the future of our country and the fate of our freedom. I know for me, that day was a day that will live on forever in my mind, but not for the reasons you may think.
That awful morning, my baby boy, then 18 months old, was sitting in his chair in …

I have a three-year-old neighbor named Levi. I have watched this little warrior as he has grown over the past two-and-a-half years. In him, I see strength, resilience and fearlessness. He seems to know no barriers.
Recently, while I was studying on my deck, Levi shed the security of the training wheels on his bike. It happened suddenly when his mother looked down while they were riding to find he was not even using the extra wheels. So off they went. He took off immediately …

Are you as confused as I was with all of this tweeting nonsense? I just figured out texting, and I don’t even do that well, and now I must do something called tweeting. Who came up with the idea that we should throw away all common sense and good grammar, and resort to abbreviations no one over the age of 35 understands?
I am a fanatic about the proper use of grammar and punctuation. Am I the only one out there who still believes in that? Well, I realized quickly I …

Have you ever wanted to know why some people are easy to follow and others are not? Wonder why your team isn’t devoted to you, and why they don’t see you as a leader? Funny how most people think that a great leader is someone who can walk into a room, take control and make others accomplish what they want to have done. Although this kind of leadership may work for a time, it will not build and sustain most organizations. A true leader is one that is a servant.
I …

I have always loved to journal. I got more serious about it when we made a decision to start a family. I wanted to write to my children, so they would know how much they were wanted, what we went through during their young lives and so they would see a side of me that most children never take time to look at in their mothers. Through the years, I have chronicled my failures as a wife and mother, my hurts, the life lessons I have learned and my love …

Men, you want to bless your wives? D o you want to be the sexiest man she knows no matter how old you grow? Then brace yourselves. You may be surprised by what you read.
It is not in the jewels or flowers (although do not forget those tokens of love) that your wife will find her adoration of you. It is in your reverence of God and to God that you will draw you into her heart. There is nothing as attractive as a warrior of the Most High God …

I am a passionate person. For those that know me personally, I know that will cause a chuckle. But can I admit to you that even though I gave my life to Jesus in December of 1992 in the hospital over my sister’s dead body, I have not always allowed my passion for Him to escape into my life in “the real world”. This is shameful for me to admit, but it is none-the-less true. I am not sure why. I guess I had myself deceived into thinking that my …

When I was a child, I loved the balance beam. I can remember the excitement I would feel when I walked into the gymnasium at school to find it was gymnastics day. I would run for the balance beam, hoist myself up and spend the rest of gym class trying to get my balance, so I would not fall off. Everything had to be perfect. Each step had to be thought out. One false move, and I would be on the floor, humiliated in front of my classmates. So what …

I can understand the draw of the monastery for many. In solitude and peace, it is easy to be the person we know we were created to be. When we are on the top of the mountain, above the clouds and away from the daily cares of the world, it isn’t difficult to love our neighbors as ourselves and to think and say things of peace and goodwill.
In recent months, my family has afforded me the opportunity to get away in that incredible solitude to write my book. Without the daily …
