The year preceeding the election, I had to make some tough decisions financially, and chose to do something for income that kept me from home for 6 months. During that time, I was in every state (except Rhode Island) and almost every major city.
God showed me things during that time that Ill never forget. I also had some of the most intense prophetic experiences of my life. One of them involved His heart of this Nation, and his plans for it. He also showed me some things about authority. Authority is not people. People inhabit places of authority.
The picture i saw was almost like a grid. There is actually a structure called authority. It contains places of influence. This structure has been put in place by God as part of His creation. The shifting of the goverments of man only have the effect of changing who inhabits these static positions, sometimes placing a singe person in many positions at once. The enemys whole battle is to try to inhabit these places of influence through manipulation of fear and our collective agreement with ideals that do not represent the Kingdom of our God. To fight for the minds and hearts of men through Grace and Mercy is the primary focus of this age. All authority in Heaven and in Earth has been granted to Jesus by the Father. When we take up arms, in fear, or any other spirit that does not represent the spirit of Grace, we are actually furthering the plans of the enemy.

“I will not speak against God’s anointed.” Those were the words of another anointed King who was a fugitive because of the jealous king. Is God big enough to put Nebuchadnezzar into office and then to deal with him without our help? Yes, and thank you for reminding us.

Love is the route to change, not politics. That example you used in the beginning of Jesus in Matt. 4 is powerful for our generation. They are at risk of falling for the “political power and money” trap that the devil threw even to Jesus himself. “If you just bow down and worship me I will give you all of this.

So, that was my exact thought when I read your blog: do we really believe we can save America or the world through politics or good government? That is funny because the people speaking against the president and feeling so much fear and hate for the most part do not put “good” and “government” in the same phrase. Yet that seems to be the hope ironically. If my people will humble themselves and pray.. That is how nations are saved.

And you have pointed that out; humility and prayer, love not hate, respect for God’s choice of evil or good leaders in our opinion or His. Most of the Kings of Israel and Judah that were “God’s anointed” were pointed out to be “bad kings” in the Scriptures, by God who put them there. The people were NOT humble and DID NOT pray.

Carrie, that’s a powerful article and you have given me much food for thought. I admit, I see this president as a caricature and I see his policies as antagonistic to historical American values.

How do we speak the truth in love? How do we react courteously in the face of bold lies? It is a challenging scenario. I appreciate your perspective that we should, in fact, embrace the challenge rather than bury our heads in the sand.
